Job Summary:

Efficiently provides excellent customer service to GRHWC Pharmacy patrons and support services to Pharmacy staff. To support the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde’s philosophy of employee growth and development, this individual will be expected to have the desire to acquire the necessary education and training to become qualified to perform the duties of a Pharmacy Technician.

 Essential Functions:

  • Primary person responsible for the ordering, receiving, and shelving of daily pharmaceutical orders.

  • Primary person responsible for packaging mail order prescriptions and delivery to the post office.

  • Provides counter service for the sale of prescriptions and over the counter medications.

  • Operates cash register and accurately enters sales transactions.

  • Answers phones and receives refill requests.

  • Provides support services to Pharmacy staff.

  • Faxes refill requests and additional material as necessary.

  • Assists with Pharmacy billing activities.

  • Prepares and sends merchandise for credit.

  • Assists with ordering, stocking and replenishing of pharmaceutical inventory.

  • Assists with monthly and yearly inventory.

  • Maintains accurate inventory list.

  • May provide home delivery of medications to individuals if needed.

  • Authorized to serve both eligible and non-eligible beneficiaries in an outreach capacity both on and off site.

  • Authorized to transport native and/or non-native patients of the GRHWC in company vehicle as necessary.

  • Performs a variety of other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Education, Experience, and Licenses:

  • Requires high school diploma or GED

  • Requires one (1) year of experience in a clerk/cashier position.

  • Requires 6 months of pharmacy field experience.

  • Must maintain a valid Oregon driver’s license or obtain one upon hire, qualify for the Tribe’s vehicle insurance, and provide proof of personal vehicle insurance.

Qualifications, Registrations, and Certifications:

  • Requires ability to maintain confidential information.

  • Requires CPR Certification.

  • Requires ability to handle controlled substances (no felonies related to drugs).

  • Requires proficiency in use of computer systems, fax machine, copy machine, multi-line telephones, and postage meters.

  • Prefer knowledge of pharmaceutical purchasing and government contracts.

  • Required to acquire education and training to grow into the Pharmacy Technician role.

  • Knowledge of and sensitivity to Native American culture required.

 Environmental Factors and Conditions/Physical Requirements:

  • Continually requires the ability to express or receive detailed information or important instructions through oral communication.

  • Continually requires color identification and close vision.

  • Continually requires working with fingers rather than the whole hand or arm. Requires repetitive movement of wrists, hands and/or fingers. Requires walking or moving about to accomplish tasks, including bending, crouching, and twisting

  • Requires standing and/or sitting for sustained periods of time, raising objects from a lower to a higher position and/or moving objects horizontally.

  • Occasionally requires lifting of up to 40 pounds. Frequently requires lifting of up to 10 pounds.

  • Due to the nature of the interactions with other employees and the public we serve, employees may be required to provide documentation of, or receive, certain health vaccinations.

  • This position is frequently subject to inside environmental conditions which provide protection from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes, and is occasionally subject to outside environmental conditions.

  • May be called upon to serve as a Disaster Reservist during Emergencies, or when the Tribal Emergency Operations Center is opened.

  • Local travel is required. Travel outside of the state is infrequently required.
