We provide routine eye examinations including screening for glaucoma
and complications from diabetes and other diseases. Refractive care
includes dispensing glasses and contact lenses. After we’ve made sure
your eyes are healthy (or are receiving proper treatment), we’ll discuss
any needs you have for glasses or contact lenses. There are 200 frames
of differing styles, colors and sizes in our dispensary. All types of
contact lenses can be ordered. You are welcome stop by at any time for
frame adjustments, or call us with your concerns regarding your eyes,
vision, glasses, or contact lenses. Patients are welcome to stop by for
repair and adjustment of older glasses too.

The Optometry Clinic is open five days a week, and staffed full-time
with a doctor of optometry and an optometric technician. Routine eye
examinations are important, even if you see well without glasses or
contact lenses. Some eye diseases require early detection – before you
have any symptoms – if treatment is going to prevent permanent vision
loss. Diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma and amblyopia are examples of eye
disorders that must be caught early to be treated successfully.
There are a few procedures used to detect eye disease. Your medical
history involving general health, hereditary factors and medications can
influence eye health. An external eye evaluation used by our doctor
with a Bio-microscope to magnify the view of the front of the eye. This
instrument can detect corneal problems, infections and cataracts. The
doctor may also use the bio-microscope with special lenses to evaluate
conditions associated with glaucoma, macular degeneration and diabetes.
An internal eye evaluation, used by our doctor, with a Tonometer is to
test for high fluid pressure in the eye, a sign of glaucoma. Using an
Ophthalmoscope, our doctor sees through the pupil to the retina at the
back of the eye. Ophthalmoscopes light up the retina and provide an
enlarged 3-D image. By examining the back of the eye, our doctor can
detect cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, retinal detachments
and sometimes evidence of high blood pressure, diabetes, and
neurological and vascular diseases. Before evaluating the internal eye,
our doctor administers eye drops to dilate the pupils and maximize the
view of the retina. Additional testing can also include checking for
loss of peripheral vision, often associated with glaucoma and other
diseases, with a computerized field-of-vision instrument. We measure
contrast sensitivity, color vision deficiencies, and light sensitivity
as indicators of eye disease. Internal or external structures of the eye
are photographed if they need to be monitored for changes caused by
disease. If disease is present, other tests may be performed.
