The Pharmacy can serve all patients regardless of where they are
seen. We provide pharmaceutical services to Tribal Members, Native
Americans of other tribes, Tribal employees, and community members. Mail
order delivery is also available to all clients. Anyone receiving
prescriptions from the pharmacy needs to be entered into the Patient
Registration system. This is a one-time process which involves filling
out a Patient Registration form.
The pharmacy program is committed to providing each individual
patient with quality medication, quality medication counseling and
quality medication review. By working cooperatively with medical
providers our goal is to improve your quality of life with as little
drug intervention as possible.
Usually the last stop in your visit to the Health and Wellness
Center, we ask that you be patient with us as we give you and your
prescriptions the necessary attention they deserve. You should expect a
fifteen-minute wait for each prescription written. If there are
clarifications needed from your provider, it may take longer. Why so
long? For each and every prescription received a review is done to
determine the safety and effectiveness of the treatment prescribed. Each
prescription is reviewed for the following:
• Correct patient
• Legality of orders
• Completeness of order
• Allergies
• Appropriateness of drug therapy for diagnosis and patient
• Interactions with other medications
• Contraindications
• Dosage appropriateness
If any problems arise from this screening the pharmacy staff will consult with the provider before dispensing the medication.
Before leaving the pharmacy our goal is to provide you with the
necessary information about your medication(s) so that you will know
what your expected outcome should be. You should report any variation
from what is expected to either the pharmacy or the medical provider.
Before leaving you should know:
• Why you are taking this particular medication
• The administration route of the medication
• How often to take your medication and for how long
• Storage requirements
• Drug/drug and drug/food interactions
• Desired outcome
• Potential side effects
Each time you visit the pharmacy for medication (refills included)
the pharmacy will consult with you on the effectiveness of your
treatment. The pharmacy shares your thoughts and concerns with your
provider and if necessary your provider or pharmacy staff may ask that
you return to the clinic for further evaluation. As a provider/
pharmacist/patient team we can achieve quality health care.
Prescriptions received from this facility for any Grand Ronde Tribal
Member are free of charge, unless the medication is one that is not
covered by the Tribal health plan. Non-Native American patients incur a
charge for services. Under certain circumstances there will be a charge
for services to Native Americans; this can be further clarified by
calling our staff at 503-879-2342.
