The importance of Inigenous and Multi-Cultural Studies

Adam Langley will be offering a session offering information on the importance of Indigenous and Multicultural studies. Adam will highlight how an educator can implement these practices into the curriculum and a starting point on where to start. Adam will show how these studies could benefit the students as well.

Presenter Bio: 

Adam Langley

Adam is currently a teacher for the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde. He is a Grand Ronde tribal member from Rainier, Oregon and currently lives in McMinnville, Oregon. Adam earned a Bachelor’s degree in History and a Master’s in Education with a license to teach MS/HS Social Studies from Portland State University via the American Indian Teacher Program. He worked at Madison High School in Portland teaching Indigenous Studies and Race & Social Justice. This past year Adam worked at Willamina High School and Middle School teaching a student skills class. During the summer he also runs the tribe’s Credit Recovery Program, and he is currently preparing to co-teach a Shawash (Native) Studies class at Willamina High School next school year.
