477 Employment and Training

The 477 Employment and Training Program is a “to work” program designed to help Tribal members toward their goal of achieving self-sufficiency. You may be determined eligible for services if you are a Grand Ronde tribal member who is:

• Temporarily unemployed or underemployed
• Looking for employment or,
• Medically unable to look for work on a short term basis
• A full time student

A General Assistance counselor determines initial and ongoing eligibility for a minimal living stipend for single adults while assisting them with a service plan geared toward training and employment to become self-sufficient. In addition, the following services are offered through the Employment and Training Program: Employment-related assistance for work clothing, work tools, car repairs and insurance, license and fees. Help is available for finding and maintaining employment.

Children and Family Services

The CFS Program investigates reports of child abuse, neglect and abandonment of Grand Ronde Tribal children. The CFS Program offers a variety of support services for families and their children in efforts to ensure child safety while preserving the family structure whenever possible. Once children are placed in foster care, the CFS Program provides support services to the parents, children and foster families with the goal of healthy children and reunification. When reunification is not possible, it is the goal of the CFS Program to preserve family, community and cultural ties for these children and develop a permanent family for each child. The CFS Program includes the following program areas:

• Intake and Referral

• Investigation
• Foster Care
• Prevention

Reporting Concerns of Abuse and Neglect

Domestic and Sexual Violence Prevention

The program offers a confidential outlet to support survivors of domestic and sexual violence and stalking. The program works to inform our community on their service options (local and/or regional options) when it comes to violence-free living.

Emergency Assistance

The Emergency Assistance Program and the LIHEAP (Low Income Heating Energy Assistance Program) assists eligible Tribal Members with the following: Utility Assistance: where an emergency can be demonstrated with a Shut-off notice. LIHEAP payments will be counted as utility assistance through the Social Services Emergency Assistance Program. Shut-off notice is not required when using LIHEAP payments. For eligible Tribal Members who reside outside the 7 county service area: Utility Assistance will be granted with documentation from County resource denying client of LIHEAP payment. Income Criteria applies to both programs. Emergency Assistance Program assists with Shelter assistance when a Tribal Member is homeless or where eviction is demonstrated with valid Landlord notification. Rental assistance may be granted for 1 month’s rent 1 time in a 24 month period for Tribal Members who are eligible. Applicants must demonstrate ability to pay rent on an on-going basis. Income Criteria applies to this program.

Veterans' Services

The Tribal Veterans Service Office is dedicated to building relationships and knowledge that will better serve veterans and their families, assuring that they receive the benefits and support that is deserved.

Vocational Rehabilitation

The primary goal of the Vocational Rehabilitation program is to assist and support eligible Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde Tribal members living with a disability reach their highest potential possible in securing suitable, gainful employment. To provide individuals the necessary skills to gain and retain employment through informed choice.

Youth Prevention

Youth Prevention program provides prevention services to reduce risk factors and increase protective factors for our Indian youth and families. The program provides after-school and weekend programming for youth, parents and families, and community strengthening programs. The program provides interventions for court-involved youth.
