WWMP
In 2010 the Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) signed a settlement agreement with the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW) to mitigate hydropower construction and operational impacts to wildlife. As part of that agreement the ODFW will manage and BPA will fund the Willamette Wildlife Mitigation Program through 2026 allowing entities such as the Tribe to acquire properties for fish and wildlife that includes a conservation easement with the BPA.
The WWMP provides a pathway to recover Tribal homelands for conservation management that is completely externally funded.
Tribal Council moved quickly to participate in the WWMP and assembled an inter-departmental team with the Natural Resource and Lands Departments to identify properties, submit applications, obtain funding, negotiate purchases, and intake into Tribal ownership.
As of Fall 2025, the Tribe has acquired 12 properties totaling 2,578.98 acres throughout the Willamette Valley (including two properties donated to the Tribe that were funded through the program) along with millions of dollars additional funding to the Tribe for future management.
