Tribal Elections
Exercise Your Sovereignty
Elections are valuable agents of change in any community. You can actively support tribal sovereignty through participating in any and all elections that affect and inform your daily life.
The Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde make up one of nine federally recognized tribal nations in Oregon, representing over 30 tribes and bands from western Oregon, northern California, and southwest Washington. As a sovereign confederation, we govern ourselves with a deep commitment to our diverse community, values, and future generations, prioritizing accountability, transparency, and care for the well-being of our members and the lands we steward.
Voting
Each Tribal member who desires to vote in an Election must either have a Signature Verification Form on file with the Board or complete a Signature Verification Form and submit it to the Board at the polls before he or she is permitted to vote.
Upon submission of a completed Signature Verification Form, the Board shall instruct the Tribe's Enrollment Officer to confirm that the Tribal member is eligible to vote in the Election. Upon confirmation of eligibility, the Election Administrator shall add this Voter to the poll book and the Board shall send the Voter a post card confirming he or she has been added to the poll book.
The Tribe' s Enrollment Officer shall be present at the polls to confirm voter eligibility for those Tribal members who submit a Signature Verification Form to the Board at the polls. Voting takes place at the Tribal Community Center in Grand Ronde from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the date set for the Election.
Elections for Tribal Council are held annually in September.
Full details for elections can be found in the Confederated Tribes Of Grand Ronde Election Contest Packet.
