Investment Projects
This page highlights some of the larger projects currently under development by the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde. These projects will allow the Tribe to expand its ties throughout its homelands, extend services to its members and diversify the Tribe’s economic base.





Chemawa Station - 7/11 Fueling Station
The Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde Community of Oregon and the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians jointly own property in Keizer, Oregon. The property is located in what is known as ‘Area D’ in the Keizer Station Master Plan. Years ago, the Tribes formed Chemawa Station, LLC, for the purpose of developing the property.
In 2019, the Chemawa Station, LLC. Board of Directors and the Tribes approved capital contributions for infrastructure improvements and development while staff pursued and negotiated leases for the site. In February 2020, the LLC and the LLC’s Co-Executive Officers successfully executed its first lease for the property with 7-Eleven for the development and operation of a fueling station and a convenience store in the northern portion of the Tribes’ property.
Shasta Administrative Services
In May of 2012, Tribal Council directed the Economic Development Department to explore options to acquire a third party administrator (TPA) for health care services. When Shasta’s divestiture from Jeld Wen was announced later in the summer of 2012, CTGR put in a bid for Shasta and negotiated the acquisition through a joint venture with HWMG.
Lamatsin, LLC, a joint venture between Huy Huy, LLC (a wholly owned tribal entity; a majority owner or 51% owner of Lamatsin) and Hawaii Western Management Group (a health care service provider in Hawaii, a minority or 49% owner), completed its acquisition of Shasta Administrative Services on October 31st, 2012.
Partnership with HWMG has unique benefits to the Tribe. HWMG brings certain assets and infrastructure that would have otherwise required the Tribe to make significant additional investment
SAM Medical Products
The Tribe’s investment in SAM Medical Products was completed on December 31, 2012. In 2013 our department began working on the Phase II of the two prong strategy. Phase II would use Dakta, LLC to have our own Tribally owned distribution/assembly hub. Currently we have accounting set up and have taken small orders in house.
The investment in SAM satisfies the Tribe’s diversification investment strategy and potentially provide jobs for Tribal members.
Electrical Charging Station
At the beginning of 2012, we had the opportunity to explore a partnership opportunity with AreoEnvironment Inc., to establish an electric vehicle charging station in Grand Ronde. The project was funded by the U.S. ODOT Tiger II grant. At no cost to the Tribe, we were able to put an electric vehicle charging stations at the convenience store adjacent to the casino.
The construction was completed on November 27, 2012. As of now, commuters with electric vehicles can use the Tribe’s facility to charge their vehicle. This project complies with the Tribe’s synergistic strategy.
