Enrollment
The Tribe’s work on enrollment has been years in the making. We appreciate the time everyone has taken to participate in the meetings, surveys, conversations, and ultimately the constitutional amendment on lineal descendancy. This new approach to enrollment is a new chapter for our Tribe and one that will allow us to work towards healing in our community.
If you have any questions regarding the process, please refer to the FAQ: View Below
Enrollment
The membership of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde is built on the unique base of lineal descent of Grand Ronde tribal members. The burden of proof that applicants meet the enrollment requirements lies with the applicant.
The requirements for membership in the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde:
- As of January 21, 2025 the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde’s enrollment criteria has changed. In order to qualify for enrollment someone must possess Grand Ronde Indian Blood, descend from a biological parent or grandparent who at any time was an enrolled member of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde provided such ancestor was not enrolled in error.
- Grand Ronde prohibits dual enrollment.
- The applicant must relinquish their tribal rights from the other tribe for five years from date of relinquishment. A Tribal Council resolution from the other tribe, approving the unconditional relinquishment must accompany application.
- Please note that for non-infant and non-emergency applications there is an annual limitation in the Tribe’s Constitution. The annual limit for those over the age of 6 months and those not subject to juvenile dependency proceedings shall be 150 and Tribal Council may, by Tribal Council Resolution, increase the annual limit to no more than 200. The process for these applications will open on Monday, June 3, 2025.
- For more information and updates please visit the Tribe’s website at www.grandronde.org.
