Tribal Transportation Programs

The Tribal Transportation Programs manage the following transportation activities:

Public Involvement
Public involvement is required as part of almost all activities within the Tribal Transportation Program including, but not limited to, Transportation Planning, Safety, Transportation Improvements, and Public Transit. Public Involvement exists within the form of several organized public forums that include open house meetings, transportation advisory stakeholder meetings, community input surveys, focus groups, online presentations, and public notices. The Grand Ronde utilizes all, or any combination of the public involvement structures, and/or any new structures that may be affective at engaging the public as the Tribe pursues Tribal and community transportation goals and strategies.
Transportation Planning
Transportation is a required process within the Grand Ronde Tribal Transportation Program. Tribal Transportation Program (TTP) regulations state that the purpose of transportation planning is to "clearly demonstrate a Tribe's transportation needs and to fulfill Tribal goals by developing strategies to meet transportation needs. These strategies address current and future land use, economic development, traffic demand, public safety, health, and social needs. The Grand Ronde Tribe engages in the many facets of Transportation Planning and publishes a document known as the Long Range Transportation Plan. The long-range transportation plan development (LRTP) process allows for the inventory and analysis of infrastructure. This is often in collaboration with State, Regional Planning Organizations, Cities, Counties, and other stakeholders to identify projects to improve multi-modal transportation options locally and regionally. A copy of the Grand Ronde Tribe’s Long Range Transportation Plan can be accessed by clicking on the following link.
Transportation Improvement Program
The Transportation Improvement Program is required in Title 23 United States Code (USC) Highways includes requirements that transportation construction projects shall be selected by Indian Tribal governments for their transportation improvement needs. The Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) is a capital improvements program that identifies transportation improvement projects for construction within a period of three to six years. The TIP provides a mechanism to plan and construct road projects that will serve the Tribe and community in the short term future. The TIP can be accessed by clicking on the following link.
