Enrollment Discussions

Statement from Council

On March 22, 2023. We informed the Tribal Members about some ongoing issues with our enrollment files and Tribal Council’s consideration of a pause on enrollment. Since then, we have had some great conversations with Tribal Members and amongst ourselves as a Council. We’re grateful to everyone who came forward and shared their voice, their stories, and their vision for the future of our Tribe. 

Tribal Council has taken what we have heard and developed a path forward for immediate action. First, Tribal Council will not be moving forward with a pause on enrollment. Second, Tribal Council has directed staff to move the enrollment applications that are currently waiting to be processed forward, with the legal blood quantum currently on file. 

While these are two actions that we can take now, there is still a lot of work to do. We must continue our conversations around the future of enrollment and how we move forward. We hope that you will continue to join us at our upcoming enrollment meetings and workshops so that we can continue that work.

• Workshop #2 (Focus: Lineal Descendancy) 
  This meeting will be held in Executive Session and is open to enrolled Grand Ronde Tribal Members only.
  When: Thursday, May 4, 2023 | 5:30PM (PST) to Conclusion (Hybrid – PDX)
  Location: PSU Native American Student and Community Center, Room 170 *Space for in-person attendance is limited to 20 individuals*
