Mission Statement: 

The Grand Ronde Tribal Library provides material and services to support the personal, educational, cultural and professional needs of the community. Special emphasis is placed on supporting students’ at all academic levels and on stimulating young children’s interest and appreciation for reading and learning.

CIRCULATIONS SERVICES

Library cards are issued to Tribal and local Community members. Verification of Tribal Enrollment and or residence is required to be issued a library card. Cards are renewed each year with verification of updated information. Library patrons may check out up to three (3) items at a time. Books are due back in two weeks, movies & audio books are due back in one week.


COLLECTION HOLDINGS

The Library has a collection of approximately ~17,000 items. Collection holdings include a significant Native American collection; a Fiction and Non-fiction collection; a Children’s and a Young Adult Collection and an Audio Book collection. In addition the library has a donated collection of Video (VHS) and DVD movies and music CDs. The Library subscribes to the local newspapers and to several magazines which are available for library use.

Oregon State Library Inter-library loan Services site: The Tribal Library partners with Oregon State Library to provide “library to library” lending service. Requests for Oregon State Library resources can be made at the Tribal Library, requested materials will be couriered to and from Salem and may be picked up at and returned to the Tribal Library.


COMPUTER ACCESS

The Library currently has five computer stations with Internet access available and is also wired for WiFi access. Sign-in at the main desk is required to use the computers. The Library was able to purchase its fifth computer through the aid of IMLS Grant funding.


PROGRAMS

The Tribal Library sponsors various programs and displays throughout the year as well as the following children & youth programs:

  • Newborn Program
  • Summer Reading Incentive Program
  • Summer Theme Program

DONATION POLICY

The library welcomes donations of books and media material that are clean and in good condition. The library does not accept the following types of materials:

  • Mass produced paperback books
  • VHS tapes
  • Cassette Tapes
  • and / or damaged items.

Outdated items are still accepted if they have significance to the Tribal Library collection and tribal community.


EXTRA RESOURCES

Below is a list of places where young and old alike can participate in numerous literary activities. Hours of operation varies for each site. Contact them to participate in children story time, teen activities, adult book talks and / or author talks. Or contact them to see if they have a copy of your favorite book.
