The Recreation Department provides a wide range of high quality wellness and recreational programs, activities, and events to Tribal Members, Descendants, CTGR Employees, and the Grand Ronde Community to enhance the quality of life and promote healthy lifestyles.

Youth under the age of 18 are not allowed to be in the gymnasium or fitness center at any time unless they are supervised by a parent/guardian, Education or Recreation Department staff member, or an individual over the age of 18.

GYMNASIUM

The gymnasium is completely equipped with a full-sized basketball court, stage, women's and men's locker rooms complete with showers, and a fully-stocked fitness center. The facility is open to the community and hosts a variety of events, special events, fitness classes, and regular weekly programming with the Education Division.

General Individual Use

Any person wanting to use the gymnasium, fitness center, or participate in any Recreation Department activity must have a General Use Agreement Form on file. This form will be used in emergency situations to provide recreation staff with emergency contacts and medical history information. This information will be kept strictly confidential. Once a General Use Agreement Form as been filled out, signed, and turned into the Recreation Coordinator, it will be valid for a period of two years. Individual Gym User Agreement

Reservation Process Anyone who would like to reserve the gymnasium for an event must fill out, sign, and return the Tribal Gym User Agreement to the Recreation Coordinator for approval. The request will be reviewed, and the person listed on the form will be contacted within five business days. In order to reserve the gymnasium, requests must be submitted no less than one week prior to the event, except for extenuating circumstances. Approval is based upon availability and at the sole discretion of the Recreation Coordinator. All cancellations must be made within 24 hours of the event. Tribal Gym User Agreement

Lost and Found

The lost and found is located in the large blue barrel container n the east entrance of the gymnasium. Every third month, items left will be donated. Valuables found in the gymnasium or fitness center will be turned into security.

 


FITNESS CENTER

A variety of fitness equipment is available including treadmills, elliptical fitness machines, a universal resistance system, free weights, and a variety of other exercise equipment to assist in daily exercising programs.

*Access is granted to Tribal/Community Members only during the hours above. Everyone who enters the gym or fitness center from 6am-8am & 5pm-9pm must sign-in.

*In the event your employee badge does not grant access to the gym after hours, contact Security, show your employee badge, and the officer on duty will let you in.

Age Access Policy:

Gymnasium

Any youth under the age of 18 must be supervised by an adult

Fitness Center

Youth 13-17 may use the Fitness Center with adult supervision (over 18) Youth 8-12 may access the Fitness Center with adult supervision, but may not use equipment. Youth ages 7 and under are not permitted in the Fitness Center

Those who violate these policies may be asked to leave.

 


ACTIVITIES AND CLASSES

Fitness class are currently held during the noon lunch hour including Spin Class. Current evening activity is open basketball night. Other evening activities are offered on a regular basis in collaboration with other CTGR departments including Family Nights, Nutrition Classes, Movie Nights and Literacy Nights.

Spin Class

A group exercise class where participants ride stationary bikes at varying speeds and resistance. Workouts are set to music, and led by encouraging and motivating individuals. It is currently the most popular fitness class in gyms across the country. Spin class promotes cardiovascular and muscular endurance in a fun and enthusiastic setting. Regularly scheduled Spin class is held on Monday through Thursday from 12:15-12:50p.m. and Tuesday mornings at 6:16 on the stage in the gymnasium.

Open Basketball Night

This is an opportunity for all adults to come and play recreational basketball in a safe, enjoyable setting. Participants are asked to sign-in when they show up. Individuals shoot to determine teams. Usually five-on-five, full court games are played to twenty-one points by twos and threes. It's a great way to get in a good workout while having fun.

Two evenings a week from September through May, the Recreation Department offers a variety of events for Tribal youth in 6th-12th grade. Activities, sometimes meals, and snacks are offered from the varying times for 5:00p.m.-6:00p.m. or 5:00p.m.-7:00p.m. Activities may be related to sports, fitness, nutrition, culture, entertainment, or other activities as determined by the Recreation Department staff.
